Restaurant & Retail Electrical Services

Restaurant and retail electrical has its own failure modes: equipment that arrives needing a different circuit than the plans showed, hood interlocks that gate the health inspection, and refrigeration that cannot be off for long. APEX Electric works with operators and their contractors across St. Charles County to open on schedule and stay running afterwards.

Kitchen equipment and the interlocks

Every piece of cooking equipment has its own voltage, phase and circuit requirement, and the cut sheets frequently disagree with what actually shows up on the truck. We confirm against the delivered equipment rather than the plan set before pulling wire.

The hood system is what gates your inspection: the exhaust and make-up air interlock, the shunt trip that kills power to the appliances under the hood when suppression discharges, and the fire alarm interface all have to be wired and demonstrated correctly.

Refrigeration and the cost of a nuisance trip

A walk-in on a shared circuit that trips overnight is a five-figure loss. Refrigeration gets dedicated, correctly sized circuits, and where the product justifies it, monitoring and backup.

We also thermal-scan the panel serving refrigeration on maintenance visits, because a warm connection on that circuit is worth finding early.

Retail fit-out and signage

Display lighting sells product, and track and accent circuits need to be laid out around the merchandising plan rather than the ceiling grid. We work from the fixture plan and leave the flexibility to re-aim as displays change.

Exterior signage, channel letters and lit awnings need weatherproof circuits on a timer or photocell, coordinated with your landlord's sign criteria and the local sign permit.

Questions

Restaurant & Retail
questions.

The things people ask us most about this work.

We schedule backwards from the certificate of occupancy and flag risks to that date early. Equipment delivery timing is usually the largest variable, so we plan around it explicitly.

Yes — exhaust and make-up air interlocks, shunt trip, and the fire alarm interface, coordinated with your suppression contractor and demonstrated at inspection.

Yes. Most of our work in operating restaurants and stores happens after close specifically to avoid lost trading.

We handle the electrical side — circuits, connections, controls and interlocks. For mechanical repair of the equipment itself we will tell you plainly that it needs the appropriate service technician.
