Commercial LED Lighting Retrofits

Lighting is usually the largest controllable electrical load in a commercial building and the easiest one to cut. APEX Electric designs and installs LED retrofits for offices, warehouses, retail and parking areas — improving light levels while reducing consumption, and handling the utility rebate paperwork that pays for part of it.

Photometrics, not guesswork

A one-for-one lamp swap frequently over- or under-lights the space, and in a warehouse the difference shows up as a safety complaint. We work from the actual footcandle targets for the task — warehouse aisles, office desks, a parking lot's perimeter — and lay the fixtures out to hit them.

The result is usually fewer fixtures than the space had before, at better and more even light levels.

Controls are where the savings compound

LEDs cut the wattage; controls cut the hours. Occupancy sensing in low-traffic areas, daylight harvesting near glazing, and scheduling on exterior lighting routinely add a further meaningful reduction on top of the fixture change.

Many current commercial energy codes require these controls on a lighting alteration anyway, so it is worth designing them in from the start rather than adding them after an inspection.

Rebates and payback

Ameren Missouri offers prescriptive and custom incentives for commercial lighting upgrades, but the applications have to be filed before the work is complete and require specific fixture documentation.

We handle that filing as part of the project and give you a payback analysis based on your actual rate and operating hours — not a generic marketing figure.
